Listening
To get children to LISTEN carefully to each different kinds of musical instruments and recognizing which family it belongs. (String family-Wood Wind family- Percussion family, Brass family and many more.
THEME ACTIVITY:
Activity 1
1. Have the children listen to a different kinds of music. It can be rhyming songs, holiday, dance and other kinds of genre age appropriate for them.
2. Have the children draw a face (Happy? Sad? Angry? Excited?) and a place as they listen to the song (Christmas? Zumba? Naptime?)
Activity 2
Have the children clap the notes you've written on the board. REST means you keep your hand together as you count. QUARTER NOTE (1clap) HALF NOTE (1 clap and rest) DOTTED HALF NOTE (1 clap 2 rest) WHOLE NOTE (1 clap 3 rest)
Activity 3
Bringing various kinds of instruments and figuring out what kind of instruments are they, while their eyes are closed.

Speaking
Learning how to read notes (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Si-Do). Sharing which intruments interest them. Teaching children rhyming songs, beat, rhytym, poetry, pitch, tempo and many more. By learning an instrument, it can be very challenging sometimes, but ones you practice playing with it and put your heart into it, it's like learning a new language... it will come easy in time you master it.

Sharing each others information on who else in the family plays an instruments and what kind?
Activity 3
Give each students a few pictures and ask them how to play that instrumentsand sound it out. Forte LOUD!!! or Piano SOFT... (Strumming? Blowing? Hitting? etc)

Emergent Writing
Writing musical notes like (quarter note, half note, whole note, dotted half note, etc) can help children learn how to count the beat that each notes have.
THEME ACIVITY:
- When learning how to write letter "B" we can talk about Beethoven. What about Beethoven? He loves to play the organ and the viola! By the age of 20, he begin to suffer from hearing loss.( Giving young children a little bit of history and cool information about the alphabet you are trying to teach.)
- Another famous musicians such as: Vivaldi for letter V. Sounding and writing Vv. V says v...v...v.. as in Vivaldi! What about Vivaldi? Vivaldi loves to play the Vvvvvvv...Violin! Did you know that by the age of 15, Vivaldi started training to become a priest?
- Next is sounding and writing Mm. M says m...m...m... as in Mozart! What about Mozart? At the age of 4, Mozart started teaching himself to play the keyboard!
